Responsibilities

As an Applied AI Engineer at BinarCode, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Develop and maintain APIs using Python frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Django) with strong REST design principles.
• Integrate and orchestrate AI APIs (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini), optimizing for cost, performance, and scalability.
• Design prompt engineering workflows and implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines with vector databases.
• Build data processing workflows to transform unstructured inputs (PDF, CSV, Excel) into structured formats via ETL pipelines.
• Manage databases and schemas (PostgreSQL/MySQL) including embedding storage in vector DBs.
• Automate parsing and classification of emails and other structured/unstructured sources.
• Collaborate with product and infra teams to deploy scalable AI-driven services (Docker, AWS, CI/CD).

Required Experience & Technical Skills

• Minimum of 5 years in web/software development
• Python expertise (FastAPI, Flask, Django) for API development and backend integrations.
• Strong knowledge of REST API design and implementation.
• Proficiency in data parsing & transformation (JSON, CSV, Excel, PDF).
• Hands-on experience integrating and orchestrating AI APIs: Gemini (Google) Claude (Anthropic) OpenAI (GPT family) Deep understanding of model capabilities, limitations, and cost-performance tradeoffs.
• Practical knowledge of prompt engineering (designing, testing, chaining prompts).
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and vector databases (pgvector, Pinecone or others).

Data Processing & Automation

• Ability to build onboarding workflows to transform unstructured imports (PDFs, CSVs, Excel) into structured data.
• Experience building semi-automated ETL pipelines with Pandas/Polars or similar.
• Familiarity with email parsing & classification (Gmail APIs, IMAP/SMTP).

Database Knowledge

• Strong SQL skills (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Schema design & mapping for structured data.
• Familiarity with embedding storage in vector DBs.

Nice-to-Haves

• Cloud & Infrastructure (AWS) — deploying APIs, Docker, CI/CD.
• Experience with serverless functions for lightweight AI workflows.
• Knowledge of background processing & queues (Redis).
• Model fine-tuning (domain-specific tuning).
• MCP server development / debugging
• Understanding of financial/accounting data flows (invoices, payroll, journal entries).

Soft Skills

• Ability to translate business needs into API-driven solutions.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and testing mindset.
• Comfortable with fast prototyping and iteration.
• Collaboration with backend/frontend engineers.
